About Me

Hi! I'm Leslie, writer and publisher of the Seattle Event Calendars: Fresh-Picked Seattle, Freeattle, and Seattle Natural Selection.

I was born in New Jersey, grew up in Arizona, and went to college in New York. I have a BFA in film and television production from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

I moved back to AZ after making an independent short film after college, mainly because I was broke from making an independent short after college.  I was not quite sure I wanted to do that again, so I spent a few years in AZ trying to figure what, exactly, I did want to do.

I moved to Seattle on a whim in 2005. The transition to living in the Pacific Northwest seemed to be the catalyst I needed to get back into writing. I started writing about about television and pop culture for BuddyTV and other sites, and blogging about food at the now-defunct Three-Bowls.com.

Now I spend most of my creative energy on the Seattle Event Calendars. Fresh-Picked Seattle (food events) was launched in December 2008, Freeattle (free events) in April 2009, and Seattle Natural Selection (nature, environment and outdoor events) in June of 2010. The goal for all three of the sites is to be a useful community resource for my fellow curious and active Seattle citizens.

In May of 2010, both Freeattle and Fresh-Picked Seattle were selected as finalists in Seattle Weekly's Best of the Web, which I found very exciting, as evidenced by this, my continuing to brag about it months later.

The sites have been focused on their respective calendars and event listings during initial growth cycles. My goal is to next move them into more reporting on local events and people and to eventually hire more writers to help cover as much of the great food, outdoor and other activity here in the Puget Sound area.

If you have any questions about the sites, about potentially writing for them or about advertising on them, please don't hesitate to be in touch. I will respond!
