Various dates: Lord Hill in Snohomish. This regional park is relatively close to Seattle and has lots of hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking trails.
I picked a bunch of velcro-like galium seeds and then looked down and found I also had some volunteers.
I enjoyed hiking around the park, but the view I climbed towards was a little underwhelming once I got there. Another hiker noted it is probably better in the winter when the trees are bare. Nevertheless, it was quiet and scenic and I recommend.
On a second visit with a friend, we came across these miniature donkeys on the way out on the main road leading to the park.
My first visit was when I was still relatively new to foraging, and I eagerly collected some salmonberries.
I made some jam and frankly it was pretty much the most revolting jam I'd ever tasted. It tasted like jam made from pennies. I had to toss it.
I also collected some gallium seeds as I'd heard you could roast them to use as a coffee substitute, but when I got home, realized I hadn't really gotten enough to made an entire cup, so unlike salmonberry jam, which has been crossed firmly off my list, this wild food project is still a possibility.
