If you find yourself writing "Get your ____ on!" stop. Go get a coffee or take a walk or just do anything but look at words on a computer. You are probably tired, have probably worked too much today and now you are running low on creativity. Come back later and you'll think of a better way to say what you have to say.

This also applies to any use of the "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!" construction. If you find yourself too exhausted to think of any way to introduce what you're writing about besides stringing things together in this overused construction, it's probably best to step away and come back later.

I'm resurrecting a theme from my old site and starting a new collection of words and phrases that should undergo a temporary or possibly permanent ban from any thinking person's online writings as they have become, as I noted in the original post on the topic, the linguistic equivalent of beanie babies.

I am sad to report that "woot," "peeps" and "deets" have weaseled their way back in my vocabulary. I'm not proud of this. "Awesome" is a beanie baby, but it's like...I don't know, a beanie baby that has a change purse in its back or something else useful. Its utility in being a casual but enthusiastic expression of approval means it sticks around. I am sorry, Hemingway, but I'm not prepared to go around proclaiming, "It is good," all the time.

Otherwise, all of the others from the previous list still stand. Some others I am adding that I have top of mind. This is, in no way, a final list.
